
On the afternoon of February 13, the Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI) held a faculty and staff meeting. All the faculty and staff members of both sides attended the meeting, which was presided over by Huang Chen, Deputy Dean of the ICI.

The meeting started with Deputy Dean Huang Chen’s introduction to the newly recruited faculty and staff since 2022. She also expressed a warm welcome to their entry into the ICI.

Dean Qin Jian gave a briefing to all the faculty and staff on the institute’s management and discussion mechanism in the context of Sino-British cooperation in school running, and deployed the work for the year 2023. He said that the "cooperation" in Sino-foreign cooperation in running a school is a kind of "grafting" between Chinese and foreign higher education, a unity between Chinese and foreign universities that benefit and complement each other, and also a state where the connotation of Sino-foreign cooperation in running a school lies. He pointed out that "advancing quality and efficiency" are the key words for Sino-foreign cooperatively running schools in the new era, and listed and introduced several Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools in China that have good schooling results. He stressed that all faculty and staff should firmly grasp the theme of high-quality, increase mutual understanding, explore and practice diversified cooperation and integration modes, and work together to build the ICI into a high-level, connotative and sustainable Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institute.

Philip Lambert, Associate Dean of the ICI, briefed on the new semester teaching plans and raised some points on further enriching teaching and learning resources. He also introduced some relevant requirements for students’ professional placement.
Gan Senzhong, Deputy Dean of the ICI, announced XMU's decision on the postponement of the final examination of the autumn semester and the teaching work arrangement of the spring semester. He deployed the undergraduate teaching work in the spring semester, required all the teaching staff to conscientiously make all the preparations needed before the start of semester, and emphasized the disciplines on classroom teaching for undergraduates.
