ICI Delegation Advances Academia-Industry Links through UK-China JIA Meetings and Visits in Beijing

From October 15-17, Professor Qin Jian, Dean of ICI, led a delegation to Beijing to advance international partnerships and industry collaboration. The visits were centered on the 2025 UK-China Joint Institute Alliance (JIA) Annual General Meeting & Transnational Education Conference and included strategic engagements with the School of Design & Arts at the Beijing Institute of Technology and Baidu Intelligent Cloud.

From October 15 to 16, the JIA meetings were held at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The events brought together over 200 representatives from more than 50 Sino-British cooperative education institutes to explore strategies for advancing high-quality, sustainable development of Sino-British educational partnerships. Participants included senior officials from China’s Ministry of Education, the China Education Association for International Exchange and the British Embassy in China. The proceedings featured keynote addresses from the presidents of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Queen Mary University of London.

The ICI delegation participated in alliance meetings addressing critical topics such as governance and structure, thematic priorities, and engagement strategies. During the discussions, they shared the institute’s insights and approaches in transnational education.

On October 17, the delegation visited the School of Design & Arts at the Beijing Institute of Technology to reinforce partnership. Discussions identified key collaboration opportunities in academia-industry integration, joint research, and global initiatives. The delegation also toured Baidu Intelligent Cloud, where they explored AI and big data applications in education and design, aiming to foster innovation through sustained academia-industry partnerships.

The delegation, which included Deputy Dean He Dongmei and other senior staff, advanced ICI's strategy of building collaborations with global academic and industry leaders to innovate in talent development and sustainable growth models.
