On the morning of November 17, 2025, the Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI) at Xiamen University held the unveiling ceremony of its two new facilities: a dedicated “Nursing Room” for its female staff and “Reading Corner” at the faculty club of the ICI. The event highlighted ICI's ongoing commitment to staff well-being and fostering a supportive community. The ceremony was attended by Hong Qiuxia, Executive Vice Chair of the Xiamen University Trade Union; Wang Yi, Chair of the ICI Council; Guo Rumei, Vice Chair of the University Trade Union, along with representatives of the Chinese and foreign faculty and students. He Dongmei, Deputy Dean of the ICI and Chair of the ICI's Trade Union, presided over the event.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Wang Yi delivered an address, expressing sincere gratitude to the University Trade Union for its constant strong support. She remarked that the new Nursing Room is a direct and concrete response to the practical needs of female employees, offering them a comfortable and exclusive space. The Reading Corner, she added, will serve as a welcoming area for all faculty to read, exchange ideas, and find inspiration, further enriching campus culture.
Amidst an enthusiastic applause, Hong Qiuxia and Wang Yi jointly unveiled the plaques for the two new spaces. As the red silk curtain falls, the two “warming-heart” facilities are officially put into use. This is not only an important measure for the ICI to optimize the service facilities for faculty and staff, but also highlights the ICI’s care for the physical and mental health of faculty and staff and its support for career development. It is a vivid footnote to building a harmonious and warm campus atmosphere.
Subsequently, Guo Rumei, on behalf of the University Trade Union, presented a sum of 5000 yuan allocated by the Xiamen Municipal Trade Union for the construction of the “Nursing Room” along with supplies valued at 10,000 RMB from the Pigeon Corporation. This heartwarming contribution provides timely support for improving the operation of the “Nursing Room”, fully reflecting the commitment and pragmatic style of the trade union in caring for its staff at grassroot level, as well as the concern and support of the enterprise for the educational cause.
After the ceremony, Hong Qiuxia and other guests, accompanied by relevant personnel from the ICI, conducted on-site inspections of the new facilities, including the Faculty Club, Reading Corner, and Nursing Room. They also visited places such as the library and workshops to gain an in-depth knowledge about the ICI's efforts to enhance services and care for its staff based on their needs.
In the future, based on these two heartwarming spaces, the ICI will further deepen its care for its staff, expand service dimensions, and improve service quality, further strengthening the centripetal force of teachers and students, stimulating innovative creativity, and inject a continuous momentum of “creativity” and “innovation” into the university's “Double First Class” construction.
