From June 4 to 5, ICI Dean Professor QIN Jian led a delegation to visit the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) Entrepreneur College (Taicang), Jupiter SR, and Design Innovation Institute Suzhou to further deepen education-industry synergy and accelerate the cultivation of innovative talents.
On the afternoon of June 4, the delegation visited the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). As a strategic centerpiece, the Hub is designed to build an innovation ecosystem that deeply integrates the University and industry through four platforms: Entrepreneurship Education, Enterprise and Industry Ecosystem, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Industry Executive Education.
During the visit, the delegation met with representatives from the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Hub: Teck Chai Lau, Director of Entrepreneurship Education; LIU Kai, Deputy Program Director of MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and LIU Jia, Business Development Director. The representatives presented XJTLU's Synergistic Education model, covering faculty development, curriculum design, industry partnerships, and project incubation. In return, the delegation shared their own practices in interdisciplinary talent development, education-industry integration, and local engagement. The two parties then held in-depth discussions on industry mentor recruitment, joint research projects with enterprises, and student innovation and entrepreneurship support, expressing mutual enthusiasm for exploring multi-level cooperation in the future.
The delegation also visited the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) Museum, as well as the Syntex Studio and Synterra-CP Studio, learning about the university's practices in startup incubation platform development, interdisciplinary lab configuration, and the operation of education-industry integrated spaces.
On the morning of June 5, the delegation visited Jupiter SR and was warmly received by CEO WU Mingyang, Vice President WANG Jianhao, and Ecosystem Cooperation Manager YU Zhuo.
The delegation began their visit with a tour of Jupiter SR’s latest innovations in 3D spatial reality display technology—including optical design for visual perception, 3D spatial vision algorithms, 2D-to-3D AI models, and glasses-free 3D display terminals. Both sides expressed shared expectations for the new possibilities that spatial reality technology could bring to creative design education.
In follow-up talks, they discussed the first phase of a joint Center for Spatial Reality Innovation Design, along with student co-training and the synergy between technology, industry, and creative education. WU Mingyang pointed to opportunities in joint labs, cultural tourism, and digital transformation, and expressed his commitment to driving these initiatives forward. Dean QIN Jian noted the two parties share a common vision on the interplay of education, technology, and human experience, and expressed the hope that the Research Center would serve as a platform for deeply integrating technological R&D with design education to create mutual benefits.
On the afternoon of June 5, the delegation visited the Design Innovation Institute Suzhou and held discussions with its Director, GU Zaoli, and its Chief Operating Officer, Professor Srini Srinivasan. As a key strategic extension of the Design Innovation Institute Shanghai in the Yangtze River Delta region, the Suzhou Institute aims to revitalize tradition, empower industry, and connect globally, supporting Suzhou's transition from a manufacturing hub to a creative powerhouse. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on design-driven innovation and interdisciplinary talent development, and expressed their intention to explore new pathways through resource sharing and coordinated efforts.
At the Design Innovation Institute Suzhou, the delegation was invited to the opening ceremony of the XJTLU Design School student exhibitions, where they had in-depth exchanges with the school’s faculty and students.
The Suzhou visit reinforced the Institute’s ties with peer institutions on innovative education and advanced practical cooperation with industry leaders in technology and talent development.
